About

Modernway of Palm Springs, California carries mid-century modern furniture, lightning, art, and accessories. If you love the show "Kathy Griffin - My Life on the D List" you might catch this store on one of the episodes. I just happened to see it tonight. Kathy Griffin and Lara Spencer went shopping here for furniture and decor for Kathy's home.  As someone who loves Kathy Griffin's comedy, and as someone who loves mid-century modern decor, this scene was the perfect combo. UPDATE: The episode was called "Getting My House In Order".

I haven't been to Modernway, but from what I saw on that Kathy Griffin episode and from what I have seen on their website, they've got an excellent selection of furniture from the 50's - 70's. A few of the more unique pieces on their website include the enormous Arthur Elrod coffee table, the counterbalance coffee table by Leon Rosen for Pace, a pair of G. Toso for Leucos lamps, and a Malitte seating system by Robert Sebastian Matta for Knoll. Those are just a few of the most unique pieces, but there is much more to be seen than that. They have the classics too, such as Saarinen tulip chairs, a Saarinen womb chair and ottoman, an Eames 670 lounge and 671 ottoman, Nelson bubble lamps, and so much more. Keep in mind with stores that sell vintage furniture, once it's gone, it's gone. So, it won't be long until the items I just mentioned are no longer at Modernway.

If you love mid-century modern, you'll find more mid-century modern places here at Retropolis.com - from stores that sell vintage decor to buildings that have been around for years (such as 50's motels and hotels, 60's restaurants and diners, old theatres, etc.). Just click on TRAVEL above and then search to find the places near you that will take you back in time.
