 Lexington Barbecue in Lexington, North Carolina opened 50 years ago, in 1962. This is one of the famous barbecue restaurants of North Carolina where true barbecue fans will make sure they stop for a meal while traveling. It's also a great stop for people traveling North Carollina's historic Highway 64 because travelers can experience the same barbecue people experienced 50 years ago. Kauffman's Country Bakery

Kauffman's Country Bakery in Millersburg, Ohio opened in 1992, but it has such a nostalgic bakery atmosphere that it feels older than that. It's one of the largest bakeries in Amish country, and they sell classic baked goods - breads, cookies, pies, and more! Plus, they have a lunch menu which includes items such as panini grilled sandwiches, fish sandwiches, and pizza. According to their website, twenty Amish and Mennonite women work in the bakery. We're not sure when Watts Burger in Odessa, Texas opened, but we estimate the 1950's. There's no restaurant to dine INSIDE, but you can eat in your car or take it with you. This is an original classic burger joint!

Sno Cap Drive-in Restaurant

The Sno Cap Drive-in Restaurant opened in North Augusta, South Carolina in 1964. It still has the original neon sign. Counter stools line the counter, red booths line the windows, and the floors are checkered.  The menu speakers and carport have been there since the early 60's. You can eat inside the building or in your car: Dine-in, drive-in, or call ahead for take-out.

White Turkey Drive-In Restaurant

White Turkey Drive-In Restaurant in Conneaut, Ohio is an original 50's drive-in, established in 1952. This restaurant looks very much the same as it did back in the 1950's. Sit around the open-air counter on one of their red counter stools, or at a picnic table. Open Mother's Day weekend until Labor Day daily from 11am to 10pm. Serving turkey sandwiches, frosted root beer, fish,  burgers, onion rings, cole slaw, and more!
