The Joy Lee Apartments in Carolina Beach, North Carolina is a mid-century modern building, built in the 1940's. The best way I can describe it is an East coast version of Googie architecture. I'm not sure if it's rented out as a motel by the night or by the week, or if it is only rented out for long term rentals. Please contact the Joy Lee Apts. for more information. We do not have any information on The Round-Up Motel in Tucson, Arizona. We came across a vintage 1940's postcard for this motel, so we know it has been around at least as far back as the 40's, but we have no current information on this motel.

The Shangri-La Hotel is an Santa Monica art deco hotel that was built in 1939. In recent years, the hotel has undergone a $30 million redesign. Each room has ocean views.

Clearman's Steak n Stein is an original 1940's restaurant in Pico Rivera, California. Celebrating their 65th anniversary in 2011! The atmosphere is dark wood and dimly lit. There's a fantastic round fireplace with seating around it.
