Traditional Passover Kugel Recipe from a Grandma
I found this yummy looking recipe on youtube, thanks to dcortesedc. They called it "Grandma's Kugel Recipe - How to make a Kugel. Get out your eggs, noodles, sour cream, cottage cheese, sugar, and fruit salad".
Although my family is not Jewish, I am pretty sure my grandma told me that her mother (who is from Austria-Hungary, but of a German background) made a Kugel. I will have to ask her about that. I posted this because Passover started today, April 9th.
I believe it is important for families to pass on their recipes from generation to generation. They are like family heirlooms. If your ancestors loved the recipes, chances are, you'll love them too.
I love that this woman has made this dish so many times that she has it memorized. She doesn't have it written down and doesn't need to measure; she just knows it all by heart. My grandma is like that for the most part, and she said that her mom never ever had any hand written recipes.
She had them all memorized in her head. My grandma didn't get all of her mother's recipes because of this. So, now is the time to ask your family about those traditional recipes - and write them down.

Oral tradition of passing down recipes
I love the oral tradition of passing down recipes. It seems they are more infused with love than the written version. This recipe llooks like it is made with love, indeed.

Yum
I am going to try this. It looks delicious.
Also, I love recipes that don't require hours of preparation.
I should check with my mom to see if she has my grandmother's recipes.
