FOR SALE: Cameron's House from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

"Please please please let me get what I want" - The Smiths

An instrumental version of that song was playing in the art musem scene in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and I'm sure many people will be feeling those lyrics when they see that this house is for sale. Cameron's house! This is a mid-century modern lover's DREAM house. The second I heard about this I went scurrying online for the real estate listing so I could see the photos, and I found the listing here:

http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/370-Beech-Street_Highland-Park_IL_60035_1109385563

Located at 370 Beech St. in Highland Park, Illinois.

Located in our memories as the home where Cameron sent his father's car through the glass wall of the garage and into the ravine. Yes, his father's precious 1961 Ferrari 250GT California that he never drives - he just rubs it with a diaper. You can see the glass garage and precious diaper-rubbed car at the beginning of this youtube clip from the movie that chelseaclipper uploaded.

Designed by A. James Speyer and David Haid, who clearly understood the importance of views from inside the home. Talk about feeling at one with nature! This home is all about the nature views. Everywhere you look you see the outside, as though the outside is inside. People often recreate views like that with hand painted wall murals, but with this house you really do get real nature. You get to live your childhood tree house dream. You can start each day with the sun, then sip tea with the deer, then do yoga with the squirrels. All in the safety of your own home, free from ticks and spiders. I'm loving it.

I would imagine Cameron's parents would have had decor which would feel very cold and uninviting. Sterile. This is actually very warm and cozy, although I am dying to put a smidge of color in that kitchen, if even a glass of orange juice.

That last black and white shot is splendid. I have been staring at it and admiring it for quite some time. I think the kid in me would eventually give in to the temptation of installing a tire swing under the house.

A tire swing!!!!! You could go flying off of that and onto a trampoline and over a fence and into someone's back yard where women are tanning, then through someone's house and over to Ferris Beuller's house!!!!!

Carmeron's house rocks my world!!!!!!!!!!!!
