Oregon Country Fair - Drum Circles, Cooperation, Crafts and More - Since 1969
In our retro tour of the US, our tribute to Oregon is the Oregon Country Fair in Veneta (15 miles west of Eugene). This July the fair celebrates it's 40th anniversary. The first fair was a barter and craft fair in the summer of 1969... yes, the same summer as Woodstock. Like Woodstock, you will find hippies, music, hand made crafts and more at the Oregon Country Fair.
Although it is called a country fair, it seems to feature many types of music, but not much country. If you love a drum circle, the OCF has a drum circle called the Drum Tower that begins on a Thursday morning and sometimes goes on non-stop until the fair ends on Sunday. This year's fair will be on July 10, 11, and 12. The website states: "The Oregon Country Fair creates events and experiences that nourish the spirit, explore living artfully and authentically on Earth, and transform culture in magical, joyous and healthy ways."

Tor Clausen created the video from the 2008 fair. You must see his fantastic drum tables (actual furniture you can play) at http://www.musicalfurnishings.com/
