Many people today think of the scythe as the weapon the Grim Reaper holds. However, the scythe is really just an early lawn mower. In this video, thanks to Ernie, we can see how people used to mow grass with a scythe.

He said that he used one in the 1940's to 1950's on a farm. I can't imagine how anyone would have time left to work on a vegetable garden after mowing the grass with one of these, but a scythe certainly contributed to keeping people in shape.
