New York Firefighters - fighting fires and saving lives for hundreds of years
Today I wanted to honor all of the firefighters in New York and throughout the world who have been bravely fighting fires and saving lives for hundreds of years.
According to Wikipedia, the origins of the New York City Fire Department go back to 1648. There have always been Americans who have respected firefighters, but after September 11th, 2001, every single American respected firefighters. Not only were they respected, but they were given the highest level of respect. I don't think that respect has faded, and I hope it never fades even for a moment. May we always honor them not only in our thoughts, but in our actions.
Thank you to all the firefighters, policemen, paramedics, doctors, nurses, and to every single person that did their best to help and save the victims on September 11th, 2001 and the days that followed. Those that lost their lives that day will never be forgotten. My heart goes out to their families and loved ones.
Thank you to pesoto74 for uploading this public domain video of early firefighters on YouTube. It is a reminder of the long history firefighters have had.
