Michael Graves in Target - and around the world!
I first discovered Michael Graves' designs at Target more than ten years ago, and immediately fell in love with them. Over the years I have enjoyed seeing the new items he has designed for Target. Michael Graves has made Target feel more like a museum experience for me as I stroll the aisles wondering what new Michael Graves pieces are in the Target gallery.
He has made regular kitchen appliances so much more exciting. We still have the Michael Graves electric can opener and Michael Graves whistling tea kettle that we got many years ago as a wedding gift, and they still work perfectly. The whistling tea kettle literally has a whistle on top, so when it blows, it BLOWS. Wake up with Michael Graves!
We don't have MANY Michael Graves designs, but if we need something, it's no surprise if the Michael Graves design ends up being the best choice. For example, when we needed a toilet brush, we looked at the variety of toilet brushes in the store, and there was no doubt that the Michael Graves toilet brush was the smartest design. It's not that we needed something that looked outstanding to clean the toilet, but we couldn't help but notice that the Michael Graves toilet brush really did have the best handle with a great grip.
Michael Graves mentions the toilet brush in the video above. His brother wondered why he was designing a toilet bowl brush. Michael Graves said, "But Tom, they just sold 6,000 of them this week." WOW! So clearly we weren't the only ones to recognize that the Target toilet bowl brush form and function winner was the Michael Graves design.
Congratulations to Michael Graves for being the first architect inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame! Also, Michael Graves celebrates his 76th birthday today. Happy Birthday, Michael Graves!
I love that he has even designed medical products. Wouldn't hospitals be a better place with more Michael Graves designs?
Thank you to NJNPublicTelevision for posting this Michael Graves video on YouTube.
