Laughing With Michael Jackson

Everybody who has ever loved Michael Jackson can't stop writing about him, talking about him, or even hearing his songs in their head. I have felt stumped since he passed away on Thursday as to what to say about someone who has brought me so much joy through his music over the years. I have been watching video after video of him, and I finally found the one that showed me what I think people need to see most - Michael Jackson as a human being. Although the quality of the video is poor, it shows us that Michael is just as human as we all are. I guess I should have said "was" rather than "is". Although I know it is true that he has passed away, it will take a long time for me to fully grasp that.

So many rumors were always spread about him that I got in the habit of deciding to blow them off unless there was evidence that the rumors were true. This is America, after all, where we are supposed to believe that people are innocent until proven guilty (although at times even in our modern world we seem to be reliving the Salem Witch Trials in some ways, pointing the finger at others without even having all the facts).

I'm just glad to see a video of Michael Jackson laughing - the kind of laughing that he couldn't stop, even though he wanted to so badly. I've been in that situation, even at churches, and even at a funeral. If something strikes me as funny, I'll laugh. I can't help it. Sometimes if I get that thought in my head that says "It's inappropriate to laugh right now... stop it!" it can make me laugh even harder. I don't know if it's a defense mechanism or what, but I definitely have a case of the "Inappropriate Laughteritis" and there is no cure for it once it starts. Michael couldn't stop laughing either in this video no matter how hard he tried. So, laugh with Michael. I think he would want you to.

"And when the groove is dead and gone
You know that love survives
So we can rock forever, on" - Michael Jackson (from "Rock With You")
