It's 80's Roller Skating Saturday!!!

The editing in this video reminds me of the 80's even more than the rollerskating does. That's because the person that made the video, rolaboi , made it when he was fifteen by dubbing his favorite skating jumps and skating scenes onto another video tape, and showing his favorite parts repeatedly. In the description that with it on YouTube, he mentioned that he watched this every day.

In the 80's I used to do something similar with audio tapes. I would leave a cassette in the tape recorder, ready to record my favorite songs when they came on the radio. I ended up having these tapes filled with bits and pieces of my favorite songs, sometimes with the voices of DJs butting in at the end.

I used to also watch video tapes of my dance recitals repeatedly, trying to learn the routines of other dance classes. Stop. Rewind. Play. Stop. Rewind. Play. Stop. Rewind. Play. Stop. Rewind. Play.  Over and over again, until I learned the routine. I wasn't planning on performing those other routines for anyone. I just wanted to learn them so I could do them at home and pretend I was back on stage. When I was a teenager, I did the same thing with certain dance music videos on MTV and Madonna concert videos. Madonna has no idea how many times I was one of her back-up dancers in the family room at home.

Thank you to rolaboi for posting one of his teenage videos on YouTube of his favorite rollerskating moves. Maybe I'll start trying to learn those next. In my imagination, that is. Does anyone else love the sound those rollerskates make when they land from a jump on the hardwood floor? I love that!
