Illinois - 80's Shopping Mall Experience
The mall scene in this video is from the movie "Weird Science" which was filmed at Northbrook Court Mall in Northbrook, Illinois. If you want to see what the 80's looked like in Illinois, just watch any John Hughes movie (Vacation, Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, and more!).
John Hughes, you're my heeerooo. (said in the voice of Cameron when he said "Ferris Bueller, you're my heeerooo" in the movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off - also a John Huges movie filmed in Illinois). Seriously, John Hughes created many of the movies on my "favorite movies of all time" list.
I looked up Northbrook Court Mall and was happy to see that it is doing very well as a mall, catering to what people in the 80's would have called "preppies" (although I was hoping it would look just like it did in the 80's).
I love that Gary and Wyatt got those guys back by being the ones who show up to drive off the very woman who those guys deserted their girlfriends for. Gary's name on the Illinois license plate is a nice John Hughes touch. John Hughes loved to show vanity plates in his movies, which was a very 80's yuppie obsession at the time.
Their clothes in this scene were totally 80's chic. I'd love to get a better look at all the flair they all had all over their jackets.
Thank you to RDJclips for posting this clip to youtube.

John Hughes, you're my hero too
Probably watched this movie 100 times. One of my favorites. That Icee scene is a classic. Why weren't more of these actors in many more movies after this? They all rocked in this. Did you know Wyatt teaches now? Check this out http://www.angelo.edu/dept/english/smith_Ilan.html

Wow!
He looks great & still looks young. I feel happy for him that he is able to do work in another passion in his life. Not many people follow multiple dreams. I wish he'd been one of my professors. He has such a variety of interests - very cool! I wonder how often people email or call him because of Weird Science. I know I'd love to, but I won't bother him. He was a great actor in that movie, and I agree with what you said about the other actors too - they rocked. I have followed Anthony Michael Hall and Robert Downey Jr. a lot over the years. I saw Kelly LeBrock on Celebrity Fit Club, and she looks great no matter what her weight is.
Still cute
I had a crush on all those boys and Wyatt still looks cute. That is great that he is teaching. Do his students know that their professor was in this movie? That would be cool if he taught science classes. I would wear a bra on my head for him. LOL. Peace, Sarah
Weird Science
We can't talk about this movie without talking about the Anthony Michael Hall drunk scene. He nailed it. That is my favorite part of the moviie. Please post if you can. I'd love to see it again. I'm not real good with youtube so maybe I couldn't find it.

Is the white man the principal from The Breakfast Club? I don't know if I ever noticed that before, or if it has been a long time and I forgot.
I love the way Anthony falls. And then after Kelly says "Party's over!" he repeats her and goes "Party's over said the girl" Hahaha! He does that SO WELL!!
