Happy Good Friday! In Bermuda, kites are flying today!
Every year on Good Friday, people in Bermuda fly kites to symbolize Christ's ascension into Heaven. The shape of the wood on the kites symbolizes the cross that Jesus died on. I would love for this tradition to make it's way to America.
Kite flying not only looks beautiful and has special meaning, but it is a great way to bring a family together. It reminds me of the scene in the movie "Mary Poppins" where the whole family joins in kite flying and they sing "Let's Go Fly a Kite."
I knew that hot cross buns were a Good Friday tradition in many countries, but I didn't know until I saw this video that hot cross buns AND cod fish cakes are a tradition in Bermuda. Of course that makes sense, being surrounded by the sea.
I also learned from this video that people play marbles on Good Friday in Bermuda. That looks like another great way for friends and family to have fun together.
The sunrise church services overlooking the ocean on Easter Sunday must be beautiful. Bermuda seems like such a peaceful place to spend Good Friday and Easter.
Wherever you are this weekend, I hope you have a peaceful time with family or friends.
Thank you to BermudaYP for posting this Bermuda video on YouTube.
