A Centenarian Shares How Times Have Changed

Caroline was 103 years old when this video was recorded. In this video she discussed the difference between the world in her younger years and the world today. The number one issue she seemed to have is that she wished that people had more respect for each other like they used to when she was younger. I wish people would have more respect for each other too, Caroline.

While we know there was never an era where people were perfect, it does seem as though people were more respectful during the days when Caroline was younger. I just can't imagine there would be many cashiers back in the 1920's who would ring people up without even greeting the customer or saying "thank you" when the customer is leaving.

I also can't imagine customers who would talk on their cell phones while purchasing something from a cashier. Of course, cell phones weren't around back then. But, customers and cashiers still treated each other as human beings back then. When someone continues to talk on the cell phone while someone is ringing them up, it's as if they are treating the cashier as a robot or a machine, who is not even worthy of their time, not worthy of a hello, not worthy of even slight friendly chit-chat, and not worthy of a thank you, unless it is unemotionally thrown out in between words that are being spoken to that person they are talking with on the phone.

Caroline lived in a time when people valued those little human to human, face to face interactions.
