The Beatles - I Want To Hold Your Hand

40 years ago the number one song around the world was "I Want To Hold Your Hand" by The Beatles. 40 years from now the year will be 2044. That seems so far away. Does "I Want To Hold Your Hand" sound 40 years old to you? How "old fashioned" will today's music be in 2044?

The number one song today is "Hey Ya!" by Outkast. It actually does have a very retro sound to it - but it's also very 2004, of course.

The number 3 song this week (according to Billboard) is "Milkshake" by Kelis. When I first heard that song, it reminded me of industrial music of the late 80's (if you take out the vocals). Number 11 on the charts this week is "It's My Life" by No Doubt (which is a beautiful cover of the already beautiful 80's version by Talk Talk).

Just as fashion recycles, so does music.
