Feeling guilty from eating Halloween candy? Time for a work-out!

If you're looking for a way to burn off those extra Halloween calories, these ladies want to show their method. They're rolling those calories right off the way people roll cookie dough with a rolling pin.

If that worked, wouldn't we all be thin by now? We could just go to the top of a hill and roll down and be thinner by the time we hit the bottom.

Dutch People and their Bicycles

I love that Dutch people use their bicycles to get from point A to point B. There are people who do that in America also, but it seems that a higher percentage of the Dutch ride their bikes to go places (as compared to riding it just for fun or exercise, which is also great, of course). In the area of the city where we live right now it isn't very bike-friendly. We'd probably eventually get hit by a car if we tried to ride our bikes to the supermarket or post office.  read more...

50 Years Ago: British Decor in Nov. 1959 - Sunken Living Room & Mid-Century Modern Furniture

This is what the ideal home in Great Britain was supposed to look like in Great Britain fifty years ago (pretty similar to the 50's American dream).  read more...

It's never too early to start preparing for Thanksgiving dinner. Let's start with table manners.

Do you have anxiety over which fork to use? These boys will help you out. Just remember - practice, practice, practice. Pretty Woman practiced and look where it got her in life. It lead her to a life of luxury with Edward Lewis. She almost blew it with her escargot moment, but luckily only the waiter noticed when it went flying across the room.

When you hit the big time after your success with table manners, be sure to stop back into that boutique on Rodeo Drive where the ladies snubbed you. You'll show THEM whose table manners have got it goin' on!  read more...

Thanksgiving with Johnny Carson and Doc Severinsen - 25 Years Ago

Share laughs about Thanksgiving with two friends, Johnny Carson and Doc Severinsen. This was from a 1979 episode of The Tonight Show. Doc Severinsen is a trumpeter who used to lead The NBC orchestra on The Tonight Show. You gotta love how natural these two are together - real pros!

My brother almost had the chance to play drums with Doc Severinsen.

Almost. read more...

A Christmas Cookies Classic: Candy Cane Christmas Cookies Recipe

My mom used to make these yummy Candy Candy Christmas Cookies when we were little. They are so cheery and festive! Coincidentally, my mom also uses the exact same Tupperware measuring cups in harvest gold that he's using. I loved his jadeite green mixing bowl too! Baking with vintage kitchenware is much more fun!

Here's the recipe for Candy Candy Shaped Christmas Cookies: read more...

Early 1930's Thanksgiving Day Parade - Hudson's Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit

Hudson's Department Store began it's first Thanksgiving Day parade in Detroit, Michigan in 1924, the same year Macy's began it's parade in New York City. Macy's and Hudson began the long tradition in America of Thanksgiving Day parade. Unfortunately, the original Hudson's building in downtown Detroit was imploded in the late 1990's, and there are no longer any other Hudson's stores around.  read more...
