ABBA and Indian Food - what could be a more perfect combination?

A few years ago I was eating dinner at an Indian restaurant, and I heard an Indian version of "Dancing Queen" by ABBA being performed by an Indian group, who sang a Hindi language version of the song. Saag Paneer and the music of one of my favorite bands of all time was the most unexpected, yet perfect combination.

ABBA are from Sweden, but they did perform their music in English, Swedish, and Spanish. I think some of their songs were even performed in French and German. But, I would have never guessed I'd hear their music in an Indian restaurant. It made me realize that they're perfect anywhere. And heck, so is Indian food. I'd enjoy it in Sweden too while listening to ABBA sing a Hindi song. :-)

I was sure I would never find the Hindi version of the ABBA song I heard in the Indian restaurant that day, but I happened to think about it today and decided to search YouTube to see if I could find it. Lo and behold, I found MORE Hindi versions of songs by ABBA. The version of "Dancing Queen" I heard that day in the restaurant was different than this version, but it was still exciting for me to find more Indian singers who performed ABBA songs. This version of "Dancing Queen" was performed in the early 80's by Salma & Sabina. It is called "Mitha Maze Dar".

Great music works in all languages!
