ABANDONED - 1950's Amusement Park - Santa's Village in East Dundee, Illinois

Poor Santa and his helpers and the snowman must be pretty sad. A little over fifty years ago, back in 1959, Santa and his friends must have been thrilled that a theme park in East Dundee, Illinois opened up that celebrated the happiness of Santa and his elves. 

Santa's Village was built so that kids could experience what it would be like to be in the North Pole. Wouldn't it be fun to ride in a tilt-a-whirl type car that looks icy, while you spin around a giant snowman? At Santa's Village, it was possible! People could even ride on an Amphicar (a car that drives AND floats on water as a boat too!). 

Santa's Village closed in 2006. No more Ho Ho Ho. Now it's Boo hoo hoo. :-(
