50 Years Ago: To Kill A Mockingbird was published (originally titled Atticus)

The video shows the town of Monroeville, Alabama, where author Harper Lee grew up and spent 2 1/2 years writing "To Kill a Mockingbird". According to Wikipedia, she once became so frustrated with the manuscript, that she threw it out into the snow .When you look at this video, you can just imagine the manuscript quietly landing in the snow, as the snow begins to fall on what would become an American classic.

This is a reminder that we should all give our dreams a chance. What if she had left the manuscript out there to become a soggy mess of paper? It would have never had the opportunity to become a book that has still never gone out of print - 50 years later. It was originally published on this day 50 years ago, in 1960. A few years later, it was made into a movie.

So, don't give up on something you've put your heart and soul into. And if you do have a moment of frustration when you throw your dream away, go get it back. It is still waiting for you to bring it back to life.
