40 Years Ago: International House of Pancakes Commercial - What IS this?

At first I honestly thought the audio was messed up on this, but it's not. This is exactly what this commercial sounded like 40 years ago. You gotta love the late 60's and the 70's. Many people that saw this on youtube commented that the people who came up with this commercial must have been on something... some sort of trip, if ya know what I mean.

I'm not sure why the balloons or the high pitched, difficult to understand voice would make people feel hungry for IHOP. If that didn't work, maybe the chicken pot pie served in a chicken would make people hungry. Or, the bowl of red sauce, topped with butter glops. Or, the fancy spaghetti and meatballs with the classic parsley accessory to dress it up.

As crazy as this commercial is, it does make me want to go to International House of Pancakes. And by THAT name, mind you. Not IHOP. The "IHOP" name came along when it was hip to shorten names down to acronyms.

And I want to go into a building that looks like the ultimate A-frame barn. Between that roof and an orange Howard Johnson restaurant roof, one could have done some crazy snow skiing stunts back then.
